Meet Snappy! - The Handy Laminated Purse Pouch

Introducing Snappy: the cutest little vinyl purse pouch! I was looking for a durable, water resistant, structured pouch I could store in my purse, and when I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I had to create one from scratch - of course!

Where we live, face masks have been a thing of the past for quite some time. The unusual problem this presents is that it leaves us completely unprepared for those times when you still do need to wear one, such as visits to the doctor’s office. I realized I needed a slim profile pouch that could store the face masks (and maybe a spare chocolate bar), and I needed it to be structured enough that it could sit in my purse indefinitely and keep the masks from getting crumpled and smooshed.

And let’s be honest, if it is going to sit in my purse for a long period of time, I need it to be easy to clean, and even water resistant. I also wanted a pouch that had a simple, practical closure. After taking all of these specifics into consideration, Snappy was born! Welcome to the world, little pouch!

The large pouch, called Snappy, which measures approximately 6” x 8”, was my first creation. After putting it together, decided it needed a little friend, so I whipped up the smaller 4” x 6” pouch, and I’m calling it the Snappy Mini. It’s seriously so cute!

The inside and outside of the pouch is coated with an iron on vinyl, which is super easy to use! The vinyl makes these pouches water resistant and easy to keep clean. This bag can sit inside a purse or backpack and come out looking brand new every time!

Two of my kids need to carry around epi pens in case of a severe allergic reaction, and this little Snappy Mini is the PERFECT size for an epi pen and a chapstick or other small item.

How cute is this?

The pouches are made with quilting cotton, but with the addition of the iron on vinyl and a bit of interfacing, the pouches are structured and have a slim profile, which means they won’t take up a lot of space in your bag, and they won’t flop around and get smooshed. The magnetic snap closure means you won’t be spending time fiddling around with zippers or clasps. This is great when you are in a hurry, and can be handy for people with mobility issues.

My instructions call for using two fabrics — one for the outside and one for the lining and binding. However, you can easily create a scrappy or patchwork version like I did here. You can embellish the pouches with appliqué, a monogram, or add a fun patch or two.
